Vatos Tacos

Being from Texas and having an affinity for tacos this is definitely a place I needed to check out. I have missed my home taco stands and needed a place that could fix my taco itch, you are missed Torchy’s Tacos, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Taco Cabana, Rosas Cafe, Yucatan Taco Stand and the many others. Vatos Tacos definitely is a place I recommend and would suggest to anyone who is in Seoul for their taco fix.

Coming out of Exit 1 in Itaewon you will walk straight for a few minutes before you come to Vatos on your right up a little hill. They have more than one location but I believe that this is their flagship in Korea. For any type of restaurant to be this big in Korea and be open for as long as they have means that they have to be doing well. Actually, if you come here for dinner anytime it can be pretty crowded and an almost guarantee a wait time if you go on the weekends.

While the Urban Tacos are their bread and butter they also offer a much wider menu including the typical Mexican staples of fajitas, burritos, chips and queso, and tamales, they also offer a pretty good burger selection as well.

The Baja fish and the Galbi short rib urban tacos are my personal favorites. I also must not forget that since this is Korea they also offer a few menu items with Kimchi and only the first order of Chips and Salsa are free.

One thing that they also offered that I found very surprising was Jarritos. Jarritos are a Mexican soda made with natural flavors and pure cane sugar. Growing up back in Texas these were like gold amongst me and my brothers. How they managed to be in a restaurant in Seoul, South Korea I might never know.

Vatos’s does offer a great drink selection to compliment the good food and my current favorite until they change the beer selection is the Watermelon Wheat.
