Hi, my name isSpencer Broom
I am going, to be honest. This will be long, and most of you probably won't read all of it. Well, maybe not that long; it depends on how I feel.
In 2013, I quit my cushy outside sales job because something didn’t seem right to me. I wasn’t really sure what it was, but I knew that the position just wasn’t for me. I had managed to get some money saved up and did all kinds of odd jobs. I found myself working retail, I was a bank teller, randomly got paid to be a fake Oklahoma State fan on a morning TV show, and for a brief stint, I was even a roofing salesman.
One of my friend's family was generous enough to let me stay in one of their spare bedrooms.
To say I was lost was an understatement. I honestly didn’t know what I was doing and started to think I had absolutely made a horrible decision quitting my job. I was grateful for the position, and it allowed me to save up a good amount of money, but I was quickly burning through it.
Then in 2014, one of my friends told me about how I could get a teaching job in South Korea. So I went home and did some research on the subject, and frankly, it sounded like a dream.
Before I knew it, I was taking an online TEFL course and interviewing for ESL jobs within a matter of days.
I absolutely loved Teaching English; it was one of the greatest times of my life.
From October 2014, My First Week in Seoul Korea. I am one of the guys you can barely see.
In Hanoi Vietnam on vacation with my Korean Boss.
I lived in Seoul, Korea, for around 3 years. I was able to live with and work with people from literally all over the globe.
The opportunity even allowed me to finish my master's degree, something I am very proud of.
I think Teaching Abroad is an amazing experience. It is what allowed me to travel to so many countries and live a life I could have only dreamed of.
Well, that gets us to my second year in Korea, and I started a travel blog, this very blog right here. I think the name is rather clever. Unfortunately, I was dumb, stopped paying for the hosting, and lost almost everything I had worked so hard on. Now I am bringing it back, restoring old posts, and making it better.
Chill-in on the rooftop overlooking the famous Boryeong mud festival in South Korea.
Originally starting this blog was something that really excited me. I would get off work every day and work on it.
While you might also think hey, you’re in another country; do you really need an excuse to get out and explore? Well, if you know me, you would also know that I kind of like to stay at home and relax.
But now that I needed more content for the blog, I wanted to go out more and see more and do more.
The blog also got me really interested in digital marketing. So I dug deep into social media marketing. Instagram was my main jam, and might have implemented questionable tactics into growing it. Don’t do what I did.

I should probably step up my Insta-game as it is currently severely lacking.
Having a bit of fun with some of my students in Korea.
Enjoying a few of the sites in Bangkok, Thailand.
I went deep and invested in courses and programs to get good at this new skill that I wanted to master.
I picked up this course by Brendan Mace called Zero Hour Work Days (I personally wouldn't recommend this course anymore), and before I knew it, I had made around a thousand dollars.
I don’t even know what I was doing when I stumbled across his course. But from that point on, I was hooked on trying to make money online.
The idea that I could travel where I wanted when I wanted was mesmerizing.
By this time, I figured it was time to move on from South Korea and explore a new country full-time.
So Off to China, I went.
Oh, and that Travel blog, I managed to get some press passes to some very awesome concerts and even some free tours as well.
To say I learned a thing or 2 about internet marketing would be an understatement.
Unfortunately, I didn’t anticipate how strict China is regarding the Internet. Half the websites I used were now blocked, and the internet was so slow that I had a terrible time trying to do any web design.
However, there was light at the end of the tunnel.
This is the 100% truth, and you can believe me or not; it is really up to you.
So I created a Facebook fan page for a digital marketing agency I wanted to start. This page looked like crap; really, it was bad. I slapped this page together and invited all my friends to like it.
The next thing I knew, I landed my first SEO client. Literally, just inviting people to like that page was what it took to get the ball rolling.
After some money exchanged hands, I got to work on his website.
So for anyone hesitating and thinking everything has to be perfect before they get started, well, you are wrong. Just get started, and as Ms Frizzle would say, get messy and make mistakes.
However, my Teaching job in China wasn’t going as I would have liked.
So back to the states I headed.
Here I am now, back in Texas.
Well that’s me.
